Elinor K. Summering (Whitehouse) of Quincy, passed away peacefully on September 22 at the age of 84.  Beloved wife of the late John Summering, retired QFD.  Loving mother of Robert P. Summering and his wife Charlene of Rockland, John W. Summering and his wife Barbara of Gresham, Oregon, William A. Summering and his wife Dyane of Colebrook,  NH, Lisa M. Prezioso and her husband Gary of Quincy, Brian C. Summering and his wife Sandra of Quincy.  Sister of Barbara Ducey of RI and the late Pauline McLean of NJ.  Wonderful grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Ellie retired from the City of Quincy after more than 30 years with the Quincy Public Schools.  She loved her job as manager of the lunch program and spent her last years at the Lincoln Hancock School.  Ellie loved spending time with her family but she especially enjoyed being a grandmother. Her grandchildren meant the world to her and her happiest times were spent in their company.  They are grateful for having been blessed with such a strong independent woman and feel honored to call her Grammy.  She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her sense of humor and her generosity.  She will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services are private and will be held on Saturday, October 1st in the Lydon Chapel, Quincy.  Burial Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.  In Lieu of flowers donations may be sent in Ellie's name to the Lincoln Hancock Technology c/o Quincy Public Schools, 300 Granite St., Quincy, MA 02169
