QUINCY- Bernard “Bernie” Levitsky, 86, of Quincy, passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, December 7, 2018, at the Carney Hospital in Dorchester. He was the beloved husband of the late Jan B. (Prillo) Levitsky, who passed away on October 11, 1997.
Born in Roselle, NJ on June 29, 1932, he was the devoted son of the late David and Ida (Novy) Levitsky.
Bernie graduated from Edison High School in Edison, New Jersey, as a member of the Class of 1950. Following high school, he proudly enlisted and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
For many years, Bernie worked as a systems analyst for Prudential Insurance Company for 27 years; he celebrated his well deserved retirement in 1982. Bernie was also a very proud blood donor with the American Red Cross.
Bernie was the cherished father to Andrew Levitsky and his wife Hayseon of Needham, Ruth Levitsky and her husband Edward Reed Smith of Quincy, and the late Robert Levitsky. Treasured grandfather to David A. Levitsky of Somerville. Dear brother of the late Bessie Levitsky, Rosie Blum, and Celia "Sippy" Manderville. Also leaves behind many extended family members and loving friends.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend Bernie’s Funeral Service on Thursday, December 13th at 11 am at Hamel-Lydon Chapel and Cremation Service of Mass, 650 Hancock St, Quincy. Burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, 815 Willard St., Quincy. Visitation will be held prior to the services from 10 am to 11 am.
