Paul Sullivan Obituary

Paul J. Sullivan of Annapolis, MD., formerly of New Bedford, Mass., passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 82.

Loving father and father-in-law of Janine and Peter McCaffrey, grandfather of James Kuhn of Austin, Texas, (who was always on tow on the back of Paul’s bike when he was a young child), Alexandra and McKenna McCaffrey of Annapolis, who were his pride and joy.  He was born in Somerville, Mass., and was preceded in death by his parents Eleanor (Flynn) and James Sullivan; brothers John and James; sisters Eleanor Riselli, Mary Sullivan and Theresa Connell; and son Paul.  He was the loving brother of and is survived by Russell and Marilyn Sullivan of Tewksbury, Ann Meehan of Worcester, and Richard and Rosalie Sullivan of Medford.  He also leaves behind 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.

Paul was a big baseball fan and passed away while listening to the Red Sox win the World Series.  In his time on Earth, he enjoyed playing backgammon with both friends and family, and in tournaments.  He was an avid bike rider and even rode in four Century rides.  He thoroughly enjoyed riding throughout Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard, and taking stops along the way to lay on the beach or take pictures.

He loved jazz and blues music and would annually take time with his friends to go to the Newport Jazz Festival.  He also was regarded for his four years of service in the United States Army.  His interests, pastimes and incredible personality will long be remembered by his friends and family, and he will be dearly missed by all those who encountered him.  He was an original.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Visiting hours for Paul Sunday from 5-7 in the Hamel Lydon Chapel 650 Hancock St., Quincy.  Interment will be private.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
