Robert E. “Hubie” Huber, age 79, formerly of Quincy, passed on February 13, 2019 in Lake Wales, Florida.
Bob was born in Lynn, MA to Robert and Margaret Huber on April 12, 1939. He was a proud member of the 1957 graduating class of North Quincy High School. He enjoyed a lifelong career as a skilled generator mechanic at Mass Generator in Quincy and served his country as a member of the Military Police for the United States Army. Bob was involved in many organizations over his life time, including the Squantum Road Runners Club, the Brewery Collectibles Club of America and The American Legion. Bob was a proud member of the United States Parachute Association for over 40 years.
One of Bob’s greatest passions was his love of skydiving. He completed 3276 parachute jumps since he became involved in the sport in 1976. He was most proud of being known as “Quincy’s Skydiving Santa”. For nearly 40 years, Bob would parachute into Quincy dressed a Santa Claus, along with his skydiving elves. This time-honored tradition brought holiday joy to countless spectators for decades.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Margaret, and his sister Evelyn Clay.
Devoted father to his daughter Donna, son Richard and his wife Barbara, son Brad and his wife Amy. Loving grandfather of Meghan Huber and Emily (Huber) Laurinaitis and Great – Grandfather to Brady and Everly Laurinaitis.
A memorial visitation service will be held Saturday February 23, 2019 from 1-3 pm at Hamel -Lydon Chapel, 650 Hancock St. Quincy, Ma.
